How to Apply FRONTLINE® Plus to Your Dogs ?
FAQs
Why might I see fleas on my pet after applying FRONTLINE PLUS®?
FRONTLINE PLUS® kills fleas by affecting their nervous system, making them hyperactive before dying. These dying fleas often rise to the top of the pet’s coat and bounce, so if you see fleas after treatment, it’s often a sign the product has got to work.
Does FRONTLINE PLUS® stop fleas from jumping onto my pet?
No. Currently, no flea treatment can completely stop fleas from jumping onto pets. However, fleas are killed within 24 hours after coming into contact with a pet treated with FRONTLINE PLUS®.
Do fleas and ticks need to bite my pet to be killed by FRONTLINE PLUS®?
No. FRONTLINE PLUS® is a topical treatment that works through contact with your pet’s skin and coat. Fleas and ticks do not need to bite your pet in order to be killed.
I am pregnant. Can I apply FRONTLINE PLUS® to my pet?
There are no known health risks associated with applying FRONTLINE PLUS® to your pet during pregnancy. As a general precaution, pregnant women are advised to wear gloves and avoid direct contact with the product.
How does FRONTLINE PLUS® work?
Once applied, FRONTLINE PLUS® is stored in the sebaceous glands in your pet’s skin and spreads across the body through the natural oils in the coat. Fleas and ticks are killed through contact with your pet’s skin and hair — they do not need to bite to be affected.
My dog weighs more than 60 kg. Can I still use FRONTLINE PLUS®?
Yes. FRONTLINE PLUS® for extra-large dogs can be used on dogs weighing over 40 kg, and there is no upper weight limit specified for the product. For very large dogs, consult your veterinarian for the most suitable treatment advice.
Can FRONTLINE PLUS® be used on any breed of cat and dog?
Yes. FRONTLINE PLUS® can be used on all breeds of cats and dogs, including collies and other herding breeds that may be sensitive to certain parasite treatments.
Can FRONTLINE PLUS® be used on pets other than cats and dogs?
FRONTLINE PLUS® should only be used on the animal species for which it is specifically developed and approved.
FRONTLINE PLUS® for Cats should only be used on cats and ferrets.
FRONTLINE PLUS® for Dogs should only be used on dogs.
Do not use FRONTLINE PLUS® on rabbits or any other animal species not specified on the label.
What happens if my pet gets wet shortly after applying FRONTLINE PLUS®?
After applying FRONTLINE PLUS®, it is recommended to keep your pet away from rain, swimming, and bathing for 48 hours.
Light exposure to rain is unlikely to reduce effectiveness. However, if your pet becomes thoroughly soaked to the skin, the treatment’s effectiveness may be reduced. In this case, please consult your veterinarian for advice on whether reapplication is necessary.
